Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon 2010 for the Alzheimers Society. I am not a runner, although I have a few 5k's and a very painful Bristol Half marathon under my belt. I have watched the London Marathon on telly every year and wondered what it would be like to take part, now is my chance to find out.
My Dad was diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies ( http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/factsheet/403) in July 2009. He has deteriorated rapidly since then and has remained in hospital ever since requiring full time care. This is not just a devastating disease for my Dad, and it is truly horrible to see him this way, but also for my Mum who has to watch the love of her life suffer. My Dad has always been an inspiration to me, he helped me buy my first car and decorate my first house (and the second one too). He even retired early from work to look after my first son, Sam. He is a truly fantastic Dad and there is not a day goes by that we do not wish he was his old self.
I am running the London Marathon for my Dad, I will finish (at some point), all I ask is that you sponsor me to help raise money for the Alzheimers Society. The Alzheimers Society works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
