Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On April 30 I will be taking part in the Ultra Challenge of walking/jogging 106 km around the Isle of Wight in support of Thrombosis UK.

After having a pulmonary embolism last July, I realised that life can take a different turn at any moment. With two blood clots in my right lung, I was shocked physically and mentally with a condition that I never even knew existed, especially in someone my age. Many DVT's and PE's are missed by medical professionals who do not recognise the symptoms, especially in young people.

On average, one person dies every six minutes from a blood clot, when it can often be prevented. Thrombosis remains a major cause of death in the UK yet many people have little or no understanding about the causes and effects of thrombosis.

I want to do this challenge firstly to raise and funds and awareness, and secondly to test my stamina and strength with a damaged lung. I hope you'll support me in this cause close to my heart (literally!) and to help prevent any more unnecessary deaths.

These boots were made for walkin'! Thanking you.

Love,

Tracey
