Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You can sponsor me by texting KNIT85 £5 (or any amount you choose) to 70070

This year I set myself the target of knitting 366 baby hats for Life for African Mothers. This is a Maternal Health charity aiming to make birth safer in Sub Saharan Africa, by providing medication to treat eclampsia and post partum haemorrhage.

By providing medication to treat the complications of child birth, they have been able to support hospitals and health centres across Africa and have seen huge reductions in maternal mortality.

They also send out

baby clothes

- hats, vests, blankets etc, which is why I'm knitting the hats - one a day throughout 2016. And I would love you to sponsor me! The money raised will help pay for the medications they use, for example:

£1000

will buy 54,000 Misoprostol tablets enabling 18000 women to get treatment for haemorrhage, or

£1000

will help pay for the training of a team of midwives - this is more urgent than ever with many health workers being affected by the ebola crisis, or

£1000

will buy 1450 tubs of folic acid used to combat birth defects such as cleft palates and spina bifida.

Thank you for your support

About the charity
