Our Story
The Turbo Tigers first formed several years ago as a group of friends getting together on our bikes and turbo trainers for fun and fitness. We are now a group of 8 who all share an interest in health and fitness and a love of cycling.
We were all deeply saddened when, last year, Andrea’s brother Mark sustained serious spinal injuries leaving him paralysed from the waist down. We are now tackling the Snowdonia Challenge as a way to support Mark in his recovery and raise funds for two charities - Spinal Research and Regain which helps sports men and woman regain independence following spinal injury.
Marks Story
Mark was a great athlete who was training hard for his 5th Ironman competition. On 10th June 2018 Mark, aged 38, was hit by a car during the Ulster 100 Mile Time Trial. He sustained many injuries including four fractures in his spine and a severed spinal cord at level T12, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. He survived the accident and after several months in hospital, returned home to begin his new journey.
He has made his family and friends immensely proud of how he has dealt with these life-changing injuries. His motivation and attitude to life since his accident have been inspirational. He is now planning ahead to one day returning to competition as a Para-triathlete and Ironman racing.
Our Challenge
On the 8th June this year we are taking part in the Snowdonia Challenge. The challenge is to cycle 40 miles around Snowdon, to climb Snowdon and to canoe a course on Llyn (lake) Gwynant in one day.
Thank you for supporting us!
