The UK Sharks have nominated SHINE to fundraise for and support in 2018. We have set an ambitious target to raise £5,000 through a variety of different events over the course of 2018. Even the smallest donation from you will go a long way to supporting a truly fantastic cause.

Every young person needs the opportunity to achieve their potential. SHINE is an educational charity that offers disadvantaged, disengaged and challenged children and young people (aged 6 - 18) the opportunity to LEARN AND BE CURIOUS and to be able to THINK BIG.

SHINE supports educational programmes and projects to raise the attainment and aspiration of children from economically deprived areas in England. Its programmes operate under the following principles:-
• A focus on Teacher and school-led innovation and replicating success.
• Targeting the core subjects of English, maths and science, supporting the development of both academic and interpersonal skills.
• Funding projects that support economically disadvantaged children and young people aged 4-16.
• Working in partnership to extend its reach and impact and to add additional resource to SHINE programmes.
• Evidencing its impact and being transparent about what works.
• All projects to be funded on the principle of additionality, whereby it add resources rather than replacing statutory funding.
