Story

This year for our ‘Big Charity Event,’ we’re doing something a little
different…

On Sunday 8th September, we have a team of 6 runners from UNW who are going to complete the Great North Run in support of MS Research and Relief Fund (MSRRF). All funds that they raise for this will then be matched by the firm, doubling the money received by the charity.

Based at Benmar House in Morpeth, MSRRF offer support to those affected by Multiple Sclerosis and their carers. Under their motto, “we can’t change the diagnosis, but we can change the prognosis,” they provide those in need with complementary therapies, such as reflexology and yoga, fitness programmes, and grants for financial assistance.

The money raised by our runners will go to MSRRF and continue to help them offer their valuable services. In the last year, funds raised by the charity have contributed towards the development of a brand-new physiotherapy and aquatherapy centre due to open at Southside House in Ashington. Research has shown that these therapies can prolong current mobility and help alleviate fatigue; this allows the charity to rehabilitate their service users.

UNW are proud to not only be taking part in one of the largest half marathons in the world, right here in the North East, but also to be offering support to a local charity.
