I'm raising money for my son Miguel's school which is for kids with severe learning disability.  

Miguel loves being there and he has made great progress.  The money raised by parents, staff and friends of the school really helps to make a difference.  It's particularly pertinent this year as recent cutbacks in education funding mean that a long overdue refurbishment of the school, planned for 2019, has had to be cancelled.  In previous years money raised by the Friends of Downs View has gone towards providing a minibus for weekly school trips and updating a very dilapidated sensory room. 

I took up running a few months ago and did the Couch to 5k programme in November.  Miguel comes with me in his wheelchair in the school holidays - he really enjoys speeding along the beach path!  I'm now keen to get 10k under my belt and so doing the Brighton Marathon 10k is keeping me motivated - I want to run the whole 10k if I can and not worry about everyone else pacing me.  Maybe I'll do a half marathon one day ...
