Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Originally built to last just 30 years, 2019 marks The Cutty Sark’s 150th birthday. The money raised through your kind donations will go towards a sustainable future for this iconic London landmark, and will help advance its educational programmes for schools, families and the local community. Fundraising efforts from the 2018 London Marathon generated enough money to guarantee a whole term of school programmes, while also provided year-long bursaries for up to 360 children from low-income families.
Having grown up in London, I always enjoyed spending time at the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Maritime Museums. I think it is important that these historic centrepieces of London’s riverside are properly maintained and preserved so that future generations can enjoy them as I have. The work done by Royal Museums Greenwich for school children from underprivileged backgrounds is another fantastic aspect of this cause and serves an important educational purpose in the community.
