I was completely taken back when learning of Cara Wilkinson's recent diagnoses of Breast Cancer.  It wasn't so long ago that my mum was also diagnosed, only two years ago now. 

This disease is petrifying and both of these women above have been completely inspirational and their story is incredible.  

With Cara being the same age as me, it really brought home the reality that anyone can get this at any age! 

Cara and mum have been amazing. Each and everyday I'm impressed by her positivity and bravery. With everything that she is currently going through, once our team had decided last minute to participate in Tough Mann, I jumped at the chance to ask Cara her thoughts on recommending a charity we could take the opportunity to raise funds for.

The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group has become more than a charity, It is now a powerful entity. A combination of like-minded people working together to improve the Breast Care Service in the Isle of Man.

Having just reached their target for a 3D Mammogram or DBT, which they hope to have operational by the end of the year, they now need to fundraise for Intrabeam Intra-operative Radiotherapy.

This is effectively one-shot radiotherapy given to the tumour site at the time of surgery. Not suitable for every patient, but will save many the trauma of having to leave the Island for treatment.

Any little bit will be amazing and can help make a huge difference.
