This summer I spent 6 weeks volunteering to teach English to disadvantaged children and orphans in Vietnam. It was great to see the amazing work that Hue Help do on improving health, education and future prospects of these young people. It was also quite a sad yet motivating trip for me. I definitely left with life long connections to some amazing people. The trip only inspired me to continue the fundraising for such a great cause. Please check out my pictures of the work I did while in Hue, as well as donate if you are able to. The money will really help the kids who need it most!

15th April 2012 – Me and Huss BUNGEE for Hue Help!

On Sunday the 15 of April, myself and Hussain will be throwing ourselves from a 160ft crane in Salford Quays to raise money for Hue Help. We’ll hopefully get a video of our jumps to prove to you how crazy we are!  If you can spare a few quid please donate!

Hey guys, thanks for checking out my Volunteer Vietnam page!

 

So, I've signed myself up to volunteer over the summer holidays to help disadvantaged children in Vietnam and to this, I need your help! I’m fundraising for a charity called Hue Help who work towards improving childrens’ health, education and future prospects. Hue is a city in Vietnam that floods each year and where many of the children continue to live in poverty. There are many homeless children and orphans who really need help. The organisation I’m fundraising for aims to help these children in whatever way they can. I’m planning on working in the centres’ for 6 weeks to teach English, organise activities and provide relief in any way possible. This is a real good cause and the money that you donate will go directly to Hue Help.

 

To raise money so far, I’ve been mega busy with lots of activities already! Here are a few:

 

- 03/11/11 Christmas Street Collection

battling hours of torrential hail/rain in the city centre for spare change!

 

- 09/11/11 Cake Sale

baked and sold lots of ‘interesting’ cakes in the Chemistry Department with help from Shanika

 

- 19/02/12 Street Collection

collecting loose change again from generous folk in the city centre, aided by a dancing penguin J 

 

- 24/02/12 Cake sale

another cake sale in the Stopford Building with Shanika 

 

- 24/02/12 'Jonty's Charity Dinner Party'

hosted, dined and entertained my guests with a Vietnamese themed evening with exclusive musical performances from Leyla and Hannah J 

 

- 02/03/12 – 03/03/12 BOGLE 2012

the biggest and most difficult fundraising event so far! Myself, Chris Cotter, Joshua Richards, Zohein Sharma and Peter Rowell walked (Chris and Zohein ran) an amazing 55 MILES around Manchester in under 24 hours to raise money for the charity. Thanks to the guys who helped raise money, the ENORMOUS amount of pain was worth it… It was probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever done!
