Story
This year, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is 60 years old. For the Award's 'diamond jubilee', D of E leaders up and down the country are taking on 'Diamond Challenges': one-off adventures to celebrate the occasion in the spirit of D of E.
In this spirit, WA's Duke of Edinburgh Leaders - past and present! - will be taking on the '3 Peaks Challenge'.
This means climbing up and down Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in Scotland), then Scafell Pike (the highest in England) (in the dark!) and finally Snowdon (the highest in Wales).
In total we will walk around 42kms, spending 4-5 hours climbing up and down each mountain, and around 10 hours driving. Our aim is to complete the challenge in under 24 hours. That's a lot of walking and not much sleep!
We've set our fundraising target at £3407 to reflect the fact that we will be climbing a total of 3407m.
It'll be a physical and mental endurance test, pushing our legs and heads to their limits...
