Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This term sees the launch of an exciting collaborative venture between Wellington College Peace and Conflict Institute and Sandhurst School.  Over the coming weeks we are fund-raising in preparation for our joint visit to Rwanda in February 2018. 26 pupils and 6 staff from both schools will spend half term in Rwanda meeting genocide survivors, and working with them on building houses for orphans while meeting the people who will be given a secure future from our donations.

WCPCI and Sandhurst are working together on the project here in the UK; our Rwandan partner is SURF Survivors' Fund.

Everyone can be involved by supporting the project financially - the money we raise will provide the following for the people we will meet:

  • £350 buys a family a cow for milk to sell - we aim to buy two cows;
  • £150 puts a child through school for a year - we aim to raise 5 years' school fees for 3 children;
  • £60 buys a pair of goats for milk, and kids, to sell - we aim to buy 2 goats for 4 families;
  • £450 gives a young person vocational training for a year - we aim to  raise money to provide 8 young people with vocational training
  • £1000 starts a small business - we aim to start two small businesses
  • £1,100 renovates/rebuilds and furnishes a house for orphans - we aim to build two houses

If you'd like to be a named sponsor for an individual or family in Rwanda, we would love to introduce you - individuals, families, departments and Houses can all be sponsors!

Please contact us at WCPCI@wellingtoncollege.org.uk for more information about becoming a sponsor.
