Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Inspiration comes from many places

Michele is mine

Michele was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer
(P-NET) in Jan 2020. Her diagnosis was terminal!

She never gave up, she was what we should all inspire to be,
fighters, no matter what your battle is!

Never give up pushing yourself, never give up in challenging
and facing YOUR fight

Michele passed away in Feb 2021, a little over a year after
being diagnosed.

The way Michele approached the challenge of such a life
changing disease was none other than super-human

Never was she negative, even though the bad times, never did
she say she was done, never did she give up, never will she not be loved by so many.

There were many people involved in the care of Michele since
she was diagnosed, and I can’t thank them enough ever for being there for us both and her family

SO, to help a little, I’ve decided to dust of my triathlon
suit and give something that’s been on my mind for many years, to complete a Continuous Triple Ironman

The event is being run by the team at Brutal Events starting
on 18th July 2022 at 1am, 65 hrs cut off time!

This is comprised of a 7.8 miles swim, 335 miles bike ride
and 78 mile run in as quick a time as my body and brain will allow. I have amazing support from many people in the lead up to this race. Also, my inspiration from Michele and her no quit attitude.

I promised Michele in her final days at Poole Hospital
(Sandbanks Ward), I would do this, her response was “You will smash it” these words will never be forgotten

Michele took a keen interested in a Charity called PLANETS
Cancer Charity, they are local, based in Southampton. An amazing charity which raises much needed funds and awareness for people with these types of cancers. They work closely with Southampton (World leading Cancer care hospital), Poole and Bournemouth hospitals to fund leading treatments and supporting the NHS in
areas of under-funding

I’ll be raising money for PLANETS, supporting the amazing
work they, and all the medical staff at Poole and Bournemouth Hospital provided day in and day out for Michele and her loved ones. We have our memories; they continue to battle day in day out with others going through the same journey as Michele did.

Many thanks in advance for your donation and support.

About the charity

PLANETS Cancer Charity

RCN 1175572
PLANETS ethos is based around two fundamental principles: Firstly, supporting our patients and their families by working together as a “whole team” with the doctors, nurses and other medical staff using the motivation of fundraising alongside our patients to help them fight cancer through the positive energy that this camaraderie creates. Secondly, we use the money that has been raised to provide the “icing on the cake“ by funding things that the NHS otherwise could not afford and stimulating innovation in cancer care through research and the introduction of new treatments. PLANETS is more than just another local cancer charity, it is a motivating and unifying force that is changing the way that we approach the fight against cancer across the central south coast of England. Our aim is not just to save lives but also to enrich them in the process by helping the “whole team” to focus together on our shared goals.
