Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On Saturday 13 May, I'm doing a zip slide across the Clyde.

I'm doing this for Glasgow Women‘s Aid as the organisation relies on donations to help provide its services to the 5,000 women and their children who contact them on a yearly basis.

Making a donation could help make a difference to the women and children who they support: 

1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives.

On average, 2 women per week are killed by a male partner or ex-partner in the UK.

In 90% of domestic abuse cases, children were in the same room or in the room next door to where the abuse took place.

Your donation of:

£5 could help purchase materials for a child to take part in a children‘s group activity like baking or an arts and crafts project to gain confidence and encourage involvement with others.

£10 could help provide an emergency pack for a woman fleeing domestic abuse. In the majority of cases, women turn up at GWA with only the clothes they are wearing. This money could help to provide essential items such as toiletries, nappies and food.

£20 could support a woman to take part in an activity with other women in refuge like yoga or stress management to help build her self esteem, health and well-being.

£50 could help cover costs for a child to have a session with their Play Therapist. This includes travel, subsistence, materials and equipment.

These are just some of the ways that your donation can help. Every donation, regardless of the amount, will make a difference to the women, children and young people who access GWA's services. No person should have to deal with this in their life. It needs to stop but until then we need your help and support. Please give what you can.
