Story

Willow is going to try to complete 11 junior Park runs. This distance will total the same distance as a half marathon, we’re not promising she’ll be able to run all the way (there might be intermittent walking) but she will try.

To date she has completed 4, so we are heading in the right direction. Sounds simple right? Willow has Prader Willie Syndrome, a condition that makes running really challenging. Weeker muscles and higher body fat ratio don’t help either. But, over the last 7 years she has benefited from the amazing physio-therapy at Hope in the Valley, Riding for The Discabled. This has given her the confidence to attempt this feat. She hopes to go on to try the full 5Km Park Run and eventually a Junior Tough Mudder. Again, we’re not sure if this is achievable but we will try!

Willow would like thank all the ladies and horses that have helped her grow over the years at RDA. They have given her constant support, and made her feel good at a sport. She has competed in national competitions and her confidence has flourished.  Growing up with a disability has meant constantly watching her peers accelerate past her in more ways then one, but horse rinding had opened up a different view. So, Willow would like to help everyone at Hope in the Valley RDA to be able to continue giving this gift to more children like her in the future by raising this money.

She would also like to thank all the volunteers at Park Run, those high fives you give each child as they go past really means the world to them. In Willows case it really does keep her going.

So please support Hope in the Valley, they really are incredible.
