For parents whose babies are born prematurely or sick and need the extra support of a neonatal unit it can be a very traumatic time. 

Here at The Winnicott Foundation we do all we can to support parents to spend time with their babies and to bond with them as much as possible in those precious early days.

The neonatal unit at St Mary's is being expanded to care for more sick and premature babies so we have launched an appeal to create six new parent bedrooms and a sitting room in the unit so more parents can have free accommodation and stay close to their babies.

Babies tend to be more relaxed and reassured when a parent is present and when the babies are ready to go home they will be able to spend their first night in their parents bedroom with the added reassurance that the doctors and nurses are just outside the door.
