Story

Winterflood Securities will be supporting and raising money for the NSPCC, working to protect children and prevent child abuse.

We have a dedicated team of Winterflood runners who will be running the streets of London in the iconic Virgin Money London Marathon taking place on Sunday 28th April 2019. Please help us to raise £28K by donating through JustGiving. Anything you can donate will help keep children safe.

The Winterflood Runners

Matthew Wilson, Gareth Henderson, Nick Dilworth, Steve Joslin, Tom Williams, Ben Ralph-Davies, Saul Harris, Louise Millet and Phoebe Pankhurst.

Matthew Wilson

"I need to give this a go before my knees or willpower give in! This is a once and once only Marathon for me and a big step out of my usual 4 mile run comfort zone. I’m proud to be running for such a great cause as the NSPCC and really incentivised to run well for them and for everyone who is supporting us. Please don’t let it be too hot on the day!"

Gareth Henderson

"I ran my first marathon for Winterflood 20 years ago! Thought it was about time I went through the pain again and put a better time on the board. Anyone who has run the marathon or turned out to support the runners knows what a fabulous event it is. The money raised for good causes is staggering. As the father of three daughters, raising money for the NSPCC means we can hopefully make a difference to children who don’t enjoy the kind of life ours do".

Nick Dilworth

"This is my first ever marathon. I have never run a race over 10km, but running a marathon was something I felt I HAD to do at least once in my life. I am running the London Marathon to raise money for the NSPCC. My two daughters are lucky enough to be in a safe loving environment but this isn't the same for all children. The NSPCC works to prevent child abuse to help those who have suffered (both children and adults) and raise awareness".

Steve Joslin

"Running a marathon has always been an ambition of mine and I always intended my first to be the London marathon. Many of my family members and close friends have participated in the past which inspired me to do the same. As a parent, I believe the NSPCC does tremendous work for less fortunate children. Raising a considerable amount of money to help others would be a brilliant achievement by the team".

Tom Williams

“OK, I am absent from the team photo, but this is London Marathon #8 for me. It’s about time I pull my socks up and go for a respectable time. I’m aiming for below/as close to 3 hours as possible! This year, I will be buoyed further by the fact that I have family members that are currently benefiting from the incredible support they offer. Thank you for your support as our team takes on this challenge once again!”

Ben Ralph-Davies

"I enjoy walks in the park, cute animals and cry at romcoms. When I'm not dolphin training or fighting crime, in my spare time I also like to run, leap and glide like a rhino on stilts".

Saul Harris

"After going to support a friend at the London Marathon last year I knew It was something I wanted to be part of. After getting involved in doing the London Triathlon last year I wanted a new challenge. I’m proud to be part of such a great team and  will be raising as much money as possible for the NSPCC!"

Louise Millet

"Running a marathon has always been in the back of my mind. I ran my first half marathon last year and thought that I could not run any further. This year not only do I get to run one of the most iconic races but I also get to be part of a bigger cause. I am proud to be raising funds for the NSPCC to help prevent child abuse".

Phoebe Pankhurst

"I have always wanted to run the marathon as a personal challenge and what better one to take on than the London Marathon. To have the chance to raise money for such a great cause as well is something I am extremely proud of and know that every penny raised will help to change lives. Thank you to everyone who has and will be supporting us!"
