Story
OK. So... my mum used to love watching the Great North Run and the London Marathon on the TV. She would cry buckets at everyone's stories and even cry at just seeing the crowds running along.
Having watched the Great North Run last year I thought 'I could do that for my mum', registered for updates and thought nothing of it. Early this year, got an email reminding me time was nearly up for applying. Not thinking for a minute that I would get selected - It is the biggest half marathon in the world, more people apply than the London Marathon - I filled in the online form. Well, they only went and picked me out! PANIC set in, but I had to do it.
6 months of training and a couple of injuries later and I think I am ready to go. I will get over the line by hook or by crook, kicking and screaming or crawling on all fours.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a runner. Every few years I do a little bit, thinking it's good for me, but I DO NOT enjoy it. It is most definitely a chore. So please dig deep and help me raise money for the Mare & Foal Sanctuary, a charity which my Mum supported. She used to cry when she saw animals abandoned or mistreated (she really wasn't a crier either, although you would think so by this story). I know the sanctuary will be very grateful for any amount as they are only a small charity with a lot of work to do. I'm aiming for £260, £20 for every mile to keep me motivated. Thank you so much for reading this and I'll see you on the other side!
AND NO!!! I will not be trying for the London Marathon next year!
