Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. I'm sure most people know that we are going out to Malawi to do our electives in Zomba Central Hospital. Malawi is one of the most under resourced countries in the world, with a life expectancy of just 54 years old with a prevalence of HIV of 10%, 9th highest in the world, and 6% of those under 15 are orphaned due to HIV. There are only 2 doctors and 38 nurses per 100,000 population, and maternal mortality is one of the highest in Africa.(All data from the World Health Organisation). We are hoping to donate some much needed medicines and supplies to the hospital whilst we are out there, and we would really appreciate any spare money you can donate to help us in that. We have asked the hospital what supplies they need, and will be buying them from a trusted supplier in Malawi via the Zikomo Trust, so you can be sure that any money you give will go exactly where it is needed most.
