So basically this page has been set up to raise money and awareness for the Motor Neuron Disease Charity.  Our Grandad has been diagnosed with this and there is no cure!

A few months ago he was diagnosed. The disease is progressive involving degeneration of the motor neurons and wasting of the muscles. This has affected our grandads legs, hands and now the muscles which help him breathe.  

A couple of months after diagnosis he was admitted to hospital where after several tests, shown that he was having problems exhaling carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide was poisoning him and making him sleepy and slur his words. He got put on a machine straight away. After 2 weeks he was able to come home with a machine for daytime and a machine for at nightime. Along with a great package where the team made sure he had everything in place such as a zimmer frame, grab rails, wheel chair and lots more. 

My grandad is a very proud 87 year old man and didnt see this coming. A year ago he was walking me down the aisle at my wedding and enjoying his holidays in Malta. He was able to drive and live a normal life. He was able to walk over the road to The Rock to watching his football and most importantly he helped run a charity himself with The Buffalo's. He's the kind of guy that puts everyone before himself and loves his friends and family unconditionally. 

We have great and very fond memories of when him and my nana used to take us on holidays to Devon each year, sometimes twice a year. Memories of when they used to host a summer BBQ. Our nana and grandad have done so much for us with all the school lifts and just being our best friends, we want to say a massive thank you and do this abseil to raise money so other families get the support we did. 

Any donations big or small will be very grateful, we have set our target as £100 but hope to smash this target. An example, £15 will buy adapted knives and forks, so they can continue to feed themselves. £100 will provide 10 newly diagnosed people with vital information packs.
