It’s not until you lose something forever that you realize just how precious that something was.   Like a jeweled ring accidentally dropped off the stern of a sailboat, you watch helplessly as it tumbles deep down into the ocean depths knowing it has gone for good.  Maybe the ring was a gift from a special person to mark a significant occasion in your life, a real treasure held dear.  Yet no matter how precious, it is only a ‘thing’ that can eventually be replaced or substituted.  However, when you lose someone special, well that’s a whole different matter…

One day Cancer visited our families, like a fox in a henhouse, throwing happy lives into complete disarray.  In time it took both our mothers, a father and a brother all well before their time and left us feeling burned-out with emptiness and sorrow.  The realisation that each individual had gone forever left its own empty space imprinted on the fabric of our lives, at the same time emphasising the fact that life is precious and you have to live it to the full.

Motorcycle travelling gave us a way to strike back, to take to heart that lesson that life is precious and to use our time and travels for a good cause too; Cancer Research UK.  We hope you’ve enjoyed our blogs, books & photographs that relay our tall tales from the road.  In appreciation, and to join the fight to one day eradicate cancer, help us to make a difference and donate here to this worthy cause.
