Millions of people are across East Africa are facing starvation. Nearly 11m people in the Horn of Africa are affected by the drought, over 1.5 million of them are children under the age of five (UNICEF). Malnourished children are especially vulnerable to diseases such as Malaria. Women and children have been driven into prostitution in a desperate bid to keep their families alive.

Time & time again their plight has been overshadowed by emergencies around the world, and it has reached a stage where the casualties will outnumber any other recent crisis. The difference is we have a chance to stop this from happening.

I have launched a humble campaign to try and do whatever little I can to help those who are suffering…  

From the 1^st to the 31^st of March 2006 I will be living on only 50p worth of nutrition a day. I hope to try and raise as much money as possible to support the ongoing relief effort.  

Please help the suffering people of East Africa by supporting my campaign. You can either sponsor me a certain amount for every day I complete or you can donate as much as you like. Every penny counts!  

ActionAid is already responding to the crisis in the region, with targeted food aid, water and diesel to support a water pump. £50 will buy four and a half 90kg bags of maize and feed 56 families for three days.
