Story

It's that time of year again where i slip on the lycra and peddle my way through london, down into the rolling hills of Surrey and back again, finishing (hopefully) on The Mall.  This year I'm raising money for the Moira Anderson Foundation who will in turn be donating part of the money raised to Road to Change.

The Moira Anderson Foundation was founded by my amazing Aunt Sandra and provides support for children and adults, of both genders, that have been affected by childhood sex abuse.  The work this charity do is so important, they provide a safe environment for people to come forward, therapy, counselling, support victims through the criminal justice system, educational and training programs to raise awareness ..the list goes on.  They were instrumental in setting up The Justice For Children Coalition Group to see better treatment for children and young people in court (before this children were  allowed to be cross examined in open court for however many days or weeks it would take and by however many lawyers.)  All this needs a dedicated team of volunteers and also donations which is where you all come in.

I received a huge amount of support last year and would love to raise as much as i can for this fantastic charity.  Anything you can spare...£1, £5... it all helps.

I mentioned some money will be going to Road to Change.  This is for Matthew McVarish  who is walking 10000miles through 32 capital cities ...why you ask?

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. It doesn't need to be this way. The road to change is a 10,000 mile walk to Stop the Silence.

He has a Facebook page so can i please ask you to like

and here is a snippet from his last blog

One year ago, I was walking the first mile of the Road To Change. Right now I'm tearfully relieved to say that the Road has created actual Change. We've reached 22 of the 32 capitals, reached millions across Europe on TV, Radio and newspapers translated into 23 languages, often I was the first man the country had ever heard talk about having been sexually abused. We've encouraged a number of governments to address legislative change, a number of NGOs to begin international collaborations as well as many individuals from many countries who've got in touch to tell us how the Road to Change inspired them to break their silence and for the first time in their lives, speak to their families, a therapist or even the police. So, THANK YOU!!! For every kind word of encouragement, for every 'like' or 'share' of a post and for every penny donated to the Road to Change. Today I'm back in Yvonne( my vw camper van) and we have no gas, so can't even boil a celebratory cup o tea. I'm walking to Rome next but honestly we currently don't have enough funding to pay for the Diesel the van will need to follow me there. I'm proud we made it this far on kindness but despite all our achievements, Road to Change: The walk to Stop the Silence: Stop Child Sexual Abuse still has no corporate support. If you or anyone you know can help the Road to Change, please donate
