Story

Alfie is taking part in The 2.6 Challenge to raise funds for Eden Animal Rescue. They rescued and rehomed him three years ago and the amazing staff and volunteers continue to work tirelessly for animals in Cumbria.

The charity's income will be affected this year due to the cancellation of fundraising events and the temporary closure of the charity shop in Penrith so all donations to help them continue their work will be very gratefully received. It costs over £200,000 per year to run Eden Animal Rescue and their non-destroy policy means they often take in dogs and cats with complex medical or behavioral issues.

Alfie's challenge will involve 26 treat catches depending on the capabilities of his human assistant. She also has to run 6.2 miles, the longest distance she's ever run (Alfie shall not be doing this! He'll be sleeping!).

Save the UK's Charities:
General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
