Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. The Plan! A team of patients and staff (support riders..including myself!) will be participating in the Band of Brothers Bike Ride 2009 to show our support for the Help for Heroes appeal and help raise funds for all those who have been injured or need help from past conflicts and the current operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. What we aim to do! 1. The team will raise a significant contribution to the Appeal. 2. Those team members who have been injured will test their Physical fitness, stamina and mental toughness to aid their recovery from their injury. The Task! The Band of Brothers Bike Ride involves 300 cyclists riding through the Normandy battlefields to commemorate the Allies' liberation of Europe 65 years ago. With us will be teams from our Allies of today, wounded servicemen from America, Canada and France as well as our own from Headley Court. The ride will be a challenge, France is not flat, for some it will be life changing but for all it will certainly be one of the most worthwhile things we have ever done. We will ride alongside brave men and women whose lives have also changed forever through their injuries and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that we will be helping raise money for them and hundreds like them. We will be covering 350 miles through the French countryside over a 6 day period. The challenge will start at Southwick Park in Portsmouth and complete the challenge through central Paris, via the Arc De Triomphe before finishing at the Eiffel Tower. This is a fitting tribute to all those who lost their lives or were injured and maimed in conflicts around the world. What we're trying to raise! The team have set themselves a heady target of £23000 so please dig deep, every little will help. My piece of the pie is £2000.00 - so please, dear friend be a generous as you can! How you can help! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Help for Heroes will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support. Al Humes
