Event: Great Bristol Half Marathon 2017, on 17 September 2017
We provide therapies, support and help to people with neurological conditions

Story

Firstly, a big THANK YOU for vising my page... :-)

On 17th September I am running - or hobbling - the Bristol half marathon. This will be my first running event and I am superbly nervous. I am raising VITAL funding for the amazing charity that I work for - The West of England MS Therapy Centre. The MS Centre provides therapy and support services for people with neurological conditions (not just Multiple Sclerosis)‎.

I have only been working here since April but have already had so many people tell me how much the Centre has helped them. A diagnosis of MS is a really scary thing and often people feel left behind soon after diagnosis. Lots of our members tell me how the Centre has helped them to accept their diagnosis and continue living. The NHS simply cannot provide the on-going support and therapy that people with neurological conditions need.

This is where the MS Centre steps in - from physiotherapy to carers support; from oxygen therapy to advice about benefits, we'll be there. For many, it is a place to meet friends who understand what its like to live with a long term condition, which for many is incredibly isolating.

It costs £400,000 a year to run the Centre. We don't receive any government or NHS funding. The physiotherapy department alone costs £13,000 a month to run.

Please give what you can and if you have any questions about the Centre and what we do please ask me or have a look on the website.

Thank you :-)
