We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Emily Weightman was 14 years old when she received the news she had a rare form of cancer, Ewings Sarcoma.  She vowed to fight this horrific disease and went through rounds of chemotherapy, proton therapy and radiotherapy.  Eventually, after just over 2 years, her body could take no more and she lost her brave battle.

Emily had a smile that could light up a room and she refused to let the pain dampen her spirits.  She achieved many things since her diagnosis with the support of her family and friends and raised money for Cancer Research participating in a parachute jump.  She learned to drive and had great plans for the future but it wasn't to be.  During her time receiving treatment, Emily met a lot of lovely people and touched their hearts, mine included; she also saw a lot of people lose their fight and vowed to continue to battle on their behalf.

Unfortunately, Emily won't be able to fulfil all of her dreams or live out her plans so please, help us find a cure so we can conquer this horrible disease and prevent this from happening time and time again.  The pain and heartache of losing someone is painful, it's even more painful when that person is 16 and full of life with a great future that won't be lived.

I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year. Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring me - it's quick, easy and totally secure.

Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore. By sponsoring me, we will beat cancer sooner.
