I retired after a career in Sheffield as a consultant colorectal surgeon  . I had no formal art training but my father was a well-known miniature painter and my sister Vivienne Cawson VPRBSA  is a successful floral artist   

I have recently been elected a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) in 2016 and exhibit regularly in the RBSA gallery in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham
