Story
I lost 3 of my four grandparents to cancer and this had a massive impact on me as a person and the direction I wanted my nursing career to take.
I am part of the Early Phase CRUK nursing team based in Southampton. Part of our role is to deliver new anti-cancer drugs as they're developed; the other part of our role, is to be the key workers for the patients who take part in the trials. This means we are able to get to know our patients and their families, and help and support them through their treatment and beyond.
I have seen first hand how new drugs change lives. I have seen how educating people in detection and prevention really does make a difference. I also know first hand the devastation and heartbreak of losing a loved one to cancer. I also know that every single penny really does makes a difference in our quest to find a cure.
I am doing my fourth London Marathon, because I know there is a cure for cancer. 1 in 2 people are now likely to diagnosed with cancer. Let's beat it together.
