Here Is My Story:

Back in 2010 my Dad lost his long and often painful battle against skin and spinal cancer. Sitting beside  him during his final 7 weeks in hospital during that long Summer, I made the commitment to raise money for Cancer Research UK through completing a whole range of ultra distance challenges as a way putting something tangible  back  in helping to battle back against this terrible illness.

5 years later, I have now completed many exciting ultra running and cycling marathons – with the latest being the inaugural 184 mile self-supported Thames Path Race. So, rowing will present me with a brilliant new challenge and range of demands as I have never competed on the water before.

As I hit 50, the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge is such a milestone for myself, representing a culmination in bringing together of all what has gone before. In taking part in this journey, it will enable me to fulfill my ambitions of raising a really sizeable amount of money for Cancer Research UK, alongside personal goals in stretching and challenging my physical and mental capabilities to the max.

My friends state that I have always demonstrated great motivation and sheer will power, (or being really stubborn), in completing all that has gone before. I now look forward to putting these abilities to their ultimate test and examination with the Challenge.
