About Audlem St James PCC
Last year, we the bell ringers of Audlem St. James, finally had to admit that our bells were in need of some serious maintenance work or we would soon need to stop ringing. We therefore formed a Bell Restoration Group and commissioned three surveys of our peal of six bells. The bells were cast by Abel Rudhall of Gloucester in 1736 and hang in the tower of our church which dates from the 13th centuary. Apart from some refurbishment in 1891, they have remained untouched since.
We now have three reports which are broadly in agreement that the sum of £91,000 is needed to bring the bells up to a good and safe standard, and to install a new bell frame. This will ensure that the bells are in good condition for at least the next hundred years.
We appeal to you to donate now and help to save our bells, and bell ringing, in our historic village. Please remember that your donation can be gift aided which increases its value by 25%.
