JustGiving Awards 2017 - Terms and Conditions
The JustGiving Awards 2017 are operated by Giving.com Limited (trading as "JustGiving"), a company registered at 2nd Floor, Blue Fin Building, 110 Southwark Street, London SE1 0TA (referred to in these Terms as "we", "our", "us").
Please read these terms and conditions before nominating someone for an award, voting for a shortlisted nominee or attending the JustGiving awards ceremony.
What are the Awards for?
JustGiving's annual awards recognise outstanding contributions to fundraising by individuals and groups who have used JustGiving. This year, we want to find and recognise the following amazing people: Creative Fundraiser of the Year, Endurance Fundraiser of the Year, Outstanding Commitment to Fundraising, Young Fundraiser of the Year, Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year, Charity of the Year, Community Crowdfunder of the Year, Life Changer of the Year, Crowdfunder of the Year and Charity of the Year. ("Awards"). More information about the Awards will be posted on our website.
As the JustGiving Awards are all about recognising amazing stories and inspiring others to fundraise, there is no monetary or similar prize for any Award.
Who can be nominated for an Award?
For all Awards except Charity of the Year, where nominations aren't necessary, you can nominate someone if they have fundraised through JustGiving between Monday 8th August 2016 and Sunday 6th August 2017. It doesn't cost anything to nominate, and you can nominate as many people as you wish, including yourself! But please only nominate someone if you know they will be happy to be nominated and will not object to you providing their information to us.
What do I need to include in my nomination?
Nominations must be received by midnight on Sunday 6th August 2017 and include your name and email address so that we can get in touch with you if the person you have nominated is shortlisted. You also need to tell us the nominee's name and the URL of their JustGiving page so that we can identify them, and to explain (in up to 500 characters) why they should win the Award that you're nominating them for. It's always great to include a photo, but please only do this if you own the image and have the consent of the person(s) identified in the photograph. Nominations that are incomplete or exceed the stated word limit cannot be accepted.
We reserve the right to verify the validity of nominations and to disqualify you without notice if you tamper with the nomination process or do not comply with these terms and conditions. We do not accept any responsibility for loss of, or damage to, any nomination.
How will we decide who to shortlist?
All nominations received will be screened by a team of our staff. The shortlisting process is at our complete discretion. In general, we will be looking for outstanding examples of fundraising that have clear objectives, creative and effective implementation and tangible, demonstrable results. We will also consider the structure, presentation and clarity of each nomination, and we will shortlist three nominations in each category to be put forward to a public vote. We reserve the right to change the number of shortlist nominations and to alter the title and/or number of categories at any time.
How does the voting process work?
For all Awards except Charity of the Year, all shortlisted nominations will be opened up to a public vote on JustGiving from Wednesday 30th August. You will have the opportunity to make one vote in each category. Votes that are not submitted through the official voting form will not be counted. Voting will close at midnight on Wednesday 11th October 2017.
For the Charity of the Year award, you can vote once for any JustGiving charity, up until Friday 29th September 2017.
The winner of each Award will be the person or charity with the highest number of valid votes by the relevant closing date.
How will my nomination or vote be used?
By making a nomination you understand and accept that your name, your nominee's name and the content of your nomination may be made public or used in the media, as may case studies of winners or shortlisted nominees. You are free to mark any information or sensitive parts of the nomination as 'Not for publication' and we will respect this.
If you submit a nomination or vote for an Award, we will keep in touch with you about progress with the Awards process. If you do not want to receive these updates, you will be able to opt out of receiving them.
When is the Awards Ceremony?
Awards will be given during a celebration on the evening of Tuesday 21 November 2017 at The Brewery, 52 Chiswell Street, EC1Y 4SD ("Awards Ceremony"). All shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony. Winners will receive their award at the Awards Ceremony or, if a winner is not able to attend the Awards Ceremony, we will send the Award to them. We reserve the right to refuse entry to the Awards Ceremony to any individual or group.
CCTV and film cameras may be present at and around the Awards Ceremony, including filming police or security staff carried out for the security of visitors, and filming and/or photography by us or people that work for us. By attending the Awards Ceremony, you give your express and irrevocable consent to all filming and to your actual or simulated likeness being included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audiovisual recording ("Footage"), all rights in which will be owned by us.
You also agree that we may use any such Footage in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world, including for commercial purposes, such as merchandising, streaming or DVDs, without payment or compensation to you.
