Story
The Royal Alfred Seafarers Society is a maritime charity which has provided nursing care and accommodation to elderly sick or disabled seafarers since 1865. Seafarers are a unique group of people who have spent many years of their lives at sea, whether in the Royal or Merchant navies, Royal Fleet Auxiliary or fishing fleets. When the time comes they often require special help and like-minded companionship. This is where we come in.
We are able to provide this invaluable support thanks to grant giving organisations such as Seafarers UK.
In 2015 a team of staff from The Royal Alfred Seafarers Society decided to take on the challenge of the 24 peaks to raise funds for Seafarers UK. They found it so rewarding that they have taken up the challenge again. The team, made up of nursing, caring and estates started training in early January and is all being done in their own time. We have a target of £4,000 to raise for Seafarers UK plus another £4,000 for the specialised equipment needed to complete the challenge.
Please dig deep and help the team - they are doing their bit now its your turn.
