Story
The Chicago Black Toes is a global running club for masters athletes. Once a year we gather from around the world to compete in a race.
This year 7 of us are are running the Yorkshire Marathon on October 9th. Jonathon Cole, Kelly Quirk, Aitor Andres, Barry McGuire, Richie Yendell, myself and Black Toes coach Mike Thomson are all competing.
We thought it would be a great idea to raise some money for the Yorkshire Marathon's principal charity 'Jane's Appeal' and also give us a collective challenge to focus on.
The challenge is this:
Take the finishing times for the first 7 Black Toes athletes across the line and beat a 24 hour cumulative time.
Which means an average finishing time of 3hrs 25min 42.85 seconds…
Please help spur us on to complete this challenge by giving some money for Jane's Appeal.
On a personal note, I was lucky enough to know Jane Tomlinson while she was still alive, and she remains one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. Together with her husband Mike, who now runs the charity and organises dozens of events in the North of England, including this Yorkshire Marathon, they have made a massive contribution both to cancer research and to raising fitness and wellness levels across the region with all the events.
The Chicago Black Toes are delighted to support this fabulous charity and hope that all our friends and family will get behind our challenge for October 9 and give generously in this endeavour.
Many thanks,
Chris Carey
