#10MyWay

CHALLENGE SUMMARY

Take on a challenge as unique as you!

Join us from 1 to 10 August 2021 for our #10MyWay summer challenge and help us raise vital funds for SWAN UK so that we can continue to support families of children and young adults with undiagnosed genetic conditions.

Background

It is estimated that over 6,000 children are born every year in the UK with a genetic condition so rare it often remains undiagnosed. Without a diagnosis, these families often feel isolated, alone and unsupported. SWAN UK (syndromes without a name), run by the charity Genetic Alliance UK first launched in 2011 and to date, we have 3,500 SWAN UK members, including families like Jenni's:

SWAN UK has helped us feel we belong somewhere, that we aren't alone, that there are other families who simply understand what it's like living with the unknown

10 years and counting!

Weve come a long way in 10 years, but in order to continue carrying out this vital work for families who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn, we need your help!

To mark our 10th birthday were asking you to take part in our #10MyWay summer challenge!

Taking part is easy, just follow the steps below!

Step 1. Choose your challenge:

You may even want to complete an organised race as your personal challenge (or get mum or dad, brother or sister, aunty or uncle to push you!), it's your chance to do it your way!

About SWAN UK

Who we are

SWAN UK supports families affected by a syndrome without a name - a genetic condition so rare it often remains undiagnosed. SWAN UK is currently the only UK-based support group of its kind and is run by the charity Genetic Alliance UK.

We provide support to families of children and young people up to 25 years old who are based in the UK and are affected by a syndrome without a name.

What we do

By enabling families affected by a syndrome without a name to meet others in a similar position, becoming a member of SWAN UK can help reduce feelings of loneliness, isolation and anxiety among parents.

Our private, members-only online forums allow parents to talk to others who know what its like to have a child with an undiagnosed genetic condition 24 hours a day, seven days a week. SWAN UK members can use these groups as a platform to ask questions, look for advice, or just chat to someone else who gets it.
