Story
Double Joy Children's Farm is a childrens project in western Kenya that is home to 95 children whose parents were the victims of AIDS. The scheme was founded in 1994 by Mary Hinde, a teacher from Lancaster, who had been teaching in Kenya for 20 years and felt compelled to act when she saw the serious effects on local families of the AIDS epidemic. Double Joy now also offers a place of safety for other local vulnerable children who are in need of protection.
Mary, now in her 80s, lives at Double Joy and helps care for the children alongside her dedicated Kenyan staff team. She is entirely self-funded.
We are a very close group of 10 friends from Lancaster who are directly involved with the fundraising effort to keep Double Joy going. We believe passionately in helping to give these brave children a safe, stable home, a good education and a brighter future. Over the next 8 weeks we will be walking/running/cycling 1994 miles to raise money for Double Joy which holds a special place in our hearts. Please help support this great cause with us.
Your money will be used directly at source on essential items such as food, firewood and medicine. There are no UK admin costs.
We appreciate all donations and all your support. Thank you.
