Story

SIRS is soliciting USA tax-deductible donations to support the funding of the Research Fund Award. Secure your exclusive ticket to the Outgoing President's Reception by donating $100 USD. All donations go directly toward the costs of funding a research project that aims to test a novel hypothesis about schizophrenia, its causes or treatments. The 2019-2020 SIRS Research Fund Award was awarded to Dr. Yoji Hirano from Kyushu University in Japan. His proposal entitled Detecting Neural Dynamics During Emotion Regulation in Patients with Schizophrenia was selected for the award from 98 proposals by the Research Fund Award Committee.

The Research Fund Award was made possible because of the generous donations of members and donors committed to schizophrenia research. There are not enough funding opportunities for research on schizophrenia provided by public and private funds. Thus, the society hopes to bridge this gap in order to facilitate more rapid progress towards preventing the illness in vulnerable individuals or improving the illness course of those who are already afflicted with it.

All tax-deductible gifts are important - they all are meaningful as we work together to fuel the continued growth, development and advancement of the SIRS Research Fund Award and to positively impact the field through research and clinical application.

SIRS is recognized as exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. SIRS registered charity EIN number is 20-3585630.
