Story

Sign up and join #TEAMIITB in the 20 for 20 challenge 2021.

We have joined forces again with 19 other less common cancer charities to create a unique and exciting 20-day challenge. Complete a 20 day challenge filled calendar any time from September 20th - December 20th.

COVID-19 has led to a fall in the number of people diagnosed with all kinds of cancer. Fewer people have come forward with symptoms and some people with rare and less common cancers also faced delays or changes to their treatment and had difficulty accessing support.

47% of all cancer diagnoses in England are for rare or less common cancers

The percentage of deaths from rare or less common cancers has risen from 53% in 2001 to 55% in 2017

144,600 people in England are diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer every year

The total number of people living with a rare or less common cancer in the UK has been estimated to grow from around 1.25 million people in 2020, to 1.63 million in 2030, and to 2.06 million in 2040

Over the last 18 months, fundraising has been hugely impacted, yet cancer remains a priority for the 20 for 20 charities, so they can continue to provide vital guidance and support so desperately needed. Your help can enable them to continue with their work.

As the need for charity services increases, the donations that we depend on have decreased. Many fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed but with your help, Its in the Bag Cancer Support can continue to support men and their families affected by testicular cancer and also continue to raise awareness with the aim to save lives.

It’s in the Bag is run by a group of survivors with support from specialist NHS staff and provide hands-on support for men with testicular cancer (germ cell) in the South-West. We have three simple aims: Support: Being diagnosed with testicular cancer and going through treatment is a huge challenge – physically, mentally and emotionally. We provide a range of activities and initiatives to help men through this tough time. Awareness: We teach men the importance of checking their balls regularly and taking any issues straight to their GP. Spreading this knowledge promotes earlier diagnosis, which often means simpler, more effective treatment and better chances of a cure. Survival: With UK cure rates for testicular cancer running above 98%, we focus on survival helping guys tackle the emotional and practical impact of cancer, both during treatment and into their lives after.
