In response to the growing spread of coronavirus, Aberdeen Football Club and Aberdeen FC Community Trust marshalled their forces to support fans and the wider community in the North-East.

The core focus of our efforts was to work in partnership with Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) to make deliveries of food to areas where we already work to reduce food poverty, supporting children during the school closures.

We aimed to provide a delivery service five days a week operated by AFC and AFCCT staff and volunteers.

Since starting the delivery service on 20 March, we have supported over 7,000 children and reached over 12,000 people in total across the city and shire.

The initial fundraising target for the #StillStandingFree campaign was £20,000 and on Tuesday 14th April, Aberdeen FC's birthday, that was reached. Now, with the incredible support from The Red Army, over £207,000 has been reached, which has allowed an even greater community outreach in the North-East and beyond!

Your kind donations to AFCCT helped our community in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland during unprecedented times. Your donations helped support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Your donations provided direct support and enabled the Trust to fund this activity during a challenging period!

Over 15,000 Dons fans were bolstered by a phone call from the Club. Whether from a Club representative, a former player or a first team player, these check-in calls were the highlight of the day for elderly fans during the coronavirus imposed lockdown.

Acknowledging the value of these calls and the deliveries of food and essentials to the most vulnerable in the community, the Club worked even more closely with the AFC Community Trust, to reach as many fans as possible.
