The United States is deeply divided over many issues including elections and voting, policing, public health, and climate change. Americans report decreased faith in institutions, democratic norms, and the rule of law. These challenges are aggravated by both a general lack of understanding of civics and incivility in public discourse. The Cornerstones of Democracy Initiative has developed tools for attorneys, community stakeholders, and the public to utilize in making positive changes to restore trust in each other and the democratic process.
