Story
Welsh Women's Aid is the charity in Wales supporting a national network of local specialist services that help and support women, children and families impacted by violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 children in Cardiff will experience abuse and violence at some point. This includes sexual violence, coercive controlling behaviour, forced marriage, sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, stalking or harassment. By supporting this appeal, you will help make sure that everyone impacted by abuse can access vital lifesaving and life changing services in Cardiff.
Eleri Butler, CEO of Welsh Women's Aid said:
We are delighted the Lord Mayor of Cardiff has selected Welsh Women's Aid as one of his nominated charities for the year, along with BAWSO. Funds raised through this appeal will go directly to supporting the work of Welsh Women's Aid, its local members (Cardiff Women's Aid and Safer Wales) and towards the running of the Live Fear Free Helpline.
Together, we make sure survivors and their families are offered practical help, advocacy, counselling and support in a crisis and longer term. Violence against women and girls affects us all and is everybody's business; everyone has the right to live free from fear and abuse. Help us end domestic and sexual abuse in our lifetime.
