Story
The Coronavirus pandemic has affected us all and in particular older people who may be vulnerable or living alone. Demand for support increased dramatically during the lockdowns and now, as we move towards fewer restrictions and a return to a 'new normal', we need to continue providing this vital support to ensure everyone has someone to turn to.
Many older people are anxious about leaving their home after so long in isolation and / or have experienced a deterioration in physical and mental health and well-being during the pandemic. Large numbers of older people have experienced extreme loneliness during the restrictions and while some will gradually return to our clubs, social activities and other services, others may now need to access different services to meet their needs, such as telephone befriending and meal deliveries.
For those most vulnerable or worried about leaving the house to do something as simple as shopping, we can provide a meal delivery service in return for a small donation, however we need to raise funds to support this.
A donation of just £5.50 could buy an older person a two course meal delivered to their home, while £30 could ensure they are fed for a week and £40 could help us to provide a month of befriending calls.
Whatever you can donate today will enable us to keep providing essential support to help older people to find their feet in the new normal and remain connected and independent during these challenging times. Thank you for helping us to be there.
