Story

****UPDATE****

We have now reached our fundraising target and the clubhouse is complete. We look forward to welcoming all our members and supporters to the clubhouse this summer and would like to thank all of you for your generous donations.

******************************************************************************************In our 100th year, we are endeavouring to complete our ambitious project to replace our old, leaky, drafty clubhouse with a new fully accessible, light, and functional building. If you live locally, no doubt you will have noticed and, we hope, admired the building now taking shape on New Quay.

After several years of planning, preparation and fundraising by our dedicated volunteers, the new structure is finally up, the roof is on and the end of our project is almost in sight. We are now seeking your help to raise the final £10,000 to realise our vision for an inspirational building that will be a real asset to the local community for many years to come.

Over the last century the Club has become an integral part of the wider community with the old clubhouse being used as a resource for yoga sessions, a lunch club, the Pilot Gig Club, charity events, various meetings, weddings and wakes. Therefore, whilst the primary function of the new building will still be to provide a warm and welcoming, fit-for-purpose clubhouse for our sailing family, we also want to continue to share this unique and inspirational space with local residents, community groups and visitors alike.

Despite the current Covid restrictions, the Club remains very active. Our series of winter talks on a Tuesday evening have moved online and attract more attenders than ever. And just as last year, we have a full calendar of racing planned for the summer. We remain hopeful that the glorious sight of boats racing for the line off the clubhouse will once again be part of everybody's summer this year, just as it has been for the last 100 years.

In raising the necessary funds for this project so far, we have been generously supported by our members, the local community, local companies and our major sponsor Sport England. We are immensely grateful to those who have already made a donation or in-kind contribution to this project, but we need one final push to raise the £10,000 that will enable us to complete on time on 1st May 2021 and throw open our doors to local sailors and the whole of the local community
