During Foster Care Fortnight (10-22 May), over 350 people took on local walking challenges to help us reach our combined target of 2.5 million steps, the length of a virtual tour of the UK, starting at the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland and ending in London's Trafalgar Square.

Foster families, friends and supporters were joined by teams from Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, Arthur Cox, Bracknell Forest Council, Derby City Council, Foster Care Solutions, Futures for Children, North East Lincolnshire Council, South London Together and The Mortgage Brain.

By the end of the first week, we had already made an impressive 652,000 steps and visited two of our capitals - Belfast and Edinburgh, taking in some impressive sights along our virtual tour and some lovely fresh air in real life.

We began the final day in the Wye Valley with 900,000 steps to go and made a big push towards our target. We reached our virtual destination - Trafalgar Square - by lunchtime. But we didn't stop there. Our final step count was an astounding 5,691,087 steps - more than double our target.
