Story

16 brave golfers have taken on the challenge of completing 72 holes in one day, across 4 London golf courses. In aid of Grief Encounter, each drive, putt and swing will help us to continue supporting bereaved children and young people across the UK. With your help, we hope to raise £50,000 which could help us pay for 10 specialist grief counsellors to support 100 bereaved children and young people via our Family Programme this year alone, with one-one counselling, helpline support and group workshops.

On the 17th June, our passionate golfers will tee off from 4 outstanding courses, testing their skill and endurance. Their strict training regime is already underway and they are preparing for a 4.45am tee off time! By midday the team will have completed 36 holes, having smashed both South Herts and Hadley Wood Golf Club, and before sunset, Old Ford Manor and The Shire will be ticked off their score cards - 72 holes, and a very well deserved nights sleep!

Demand on our free, professional bereavement services are higher than ever before. 100% of the funds raised will go towards supporting bereaved children and young people who have experienced the death of someone close, and families and individuals impacted by grief. Since March 2020 our helpline has experienced a 197% uplift in calls, offering a lifeline to children and young people suffering grief. As a nation, we are experiencing a unique collective sense of loss, however each death impacts a family who mourns a parent, sibling or child. We estimate a further 50% increase in demand on our services over the next year, as even more families look for professional bereavement support. Challenges like these, mean we can confidently plan ahead to ensure we are able to continue providing essential services to those who desperately need them.

Your support will provide essential emotional support for a grieving child or young person, following the death of a parent, sibling or someone close. Our vital work is only made possible by generous donors supporting challenges like these.
