Story

Join the first ever camp-at-home festival whilst raising money for those in need, get your tents out!

Glastonbury fans have found a solution to this year's festival cancellation by organising a socially-distanced, lockdown festival at home. The event is free for all and everyone can attend. Whilst recreating the festival experience at home we can raise money to support charities in the UK who are providing frontline, essential support to people who need it the most during this crisis. Glasthomebury followers chose to raise money for Mind, NHS Charities Together, the NSPCC (including Childline), Refuge and the Trussell Trust.

As the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival was cancelled this year, from Friday June 26 to Sunday June 28, we can all camp at home instead, watch the Glastonbury 50th Birthday weekend on the BBC and take part in fun activities at home - a unifying, online, at-home, festival community - putting a smile on our faces during these tough times.

The coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown has affected many people, we can raise money for those who are suffering the most due to the pandemic in the UK. The money raised will be split equally between Mind, NHS Charities Together, NSPCC (including Childline), Refuge and the Trussell Trust, to support a variety of projects in the UK so they can continue to provide frontline, essential support to people who need it through this crisis.

Glasthomebury is independent, unofficial and in no way affiliated to Glastonbury Festival.

The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) are managing the administration of the donated money. To cover their costs, a small fee of 0.8% will be deducted from your donation before they send it on to the five charities, this has been approved by the charities.

About Mind

This is a mental health emergency: The coronavirus pandemic is having a huge impact on our mental health. Help us be there for everyone who needs us at this crucial time.

We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

About NHS Charities Together

During this critical time, the NHS needs us more than ever. Donations will be given to NHS Charities supporting the health and emotional wellbeing of those at the frontline of the NHS, so they can deliver the best care possible to coronavirus patients.

Donations will cover above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide, such as wellbeing packs, accommodation, travel, parking and volunteer expenses. It will also go to supporting the longer term mental and rehabilitation of NHS staff, volunteers, patients and carers after the pandemic is over and supporting NHS patients to leave hospital quickly and safely and to remain or stay out of hospital.

About the NSPCC

Now we're in lockdown, children need us more than ever. The coronavirus crisis is making life tough for children. Many feel anxious without school, many are trapped in unsafe homes and some are having suicidal thoughts and feelings. That's why it's vital our Childline service is still here for children, to give them somewhere to turn. In addition, our NSPCC helpline must continue to be here so any adult who is worried about a child can get help fast.

We're working tirelessly to answer calls and help the children who need us most. We answer hundreds of concerned children and adults a day. But we just don't know what challenges will come next. Please, will you give a gift now and make sure we can still be here for children?

About Refuge

Urgent: Help us to keep the National Domestic Abuse Helpline running. Since lockdown began, we have seen calls increase by 50%. We need urgent funds to help meet demand

At Refuge, we believe that no-one should have to live in fear of violence and abuse. On any given day we support more than 6,500 clients, helping them rebuild their lives and overcome many different forms of violence and abuse; for example, domestic violence, sexual violence, so-called honour-based violence, human trafficking and modern slavery, and female genital mutilation.

About The Trussell Trust

In the last two weeks of March our network of food banks saw its busiest ever period, with 81% more emergency food parcels being given out across the UK, including 122% more parcels going to children, compared to the same period in 2019. Food banks are working incredibly hard to continue to provide emergency food safely to people who cannot afford it but none of us should need a food bank. We should all have enough money for the essentials. This can change.

Thats why we support a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for changes to end the need for food banks in the UK.
