Story

It all started with a casual conversation on shift about a mutual enjoyment of hiking and hill-walking, and somehow culminated in gearing up to spend 24 hours exhausting our weary souls by clambering the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales! What have we got ourselves into?!

Having each both enjoyed frequent visits to the Peak District and Lake District, we are now pushing ourselves even further in order to combat the National Three Peaks Challenge. Leaving at 8am on the 24th September, we will first start the ascent of the great Ben Nevis, allowing 5 hours for this leg of the trek before we return to the minibus and drive 266 miles south to Scarfell Pike.

This second ascent will then begin around 5pm after which we will meander up and down the steep mountain paths as the sun goes down. Another 5/6 hours and we will be back on the minibus to try and grab whatever kip we can get as we travel 200 miles west to Wales to face the final challenge of conquering Snowdon.

By 8am on the 25th September we hope to have completed our mission; no doubt exhausted, drained, and covered in blisters , but all for a good cause. Which is where we are asking for your support. We hope to raise funds for St Martins Housing to fund some activities for our residents. Any pennies that you can spare towards this cause would be very greatly appreciated by ourselves, and also the people we support. It will be this that keeps us motivated to complete our challenge, and to keep putting one foot in front of the other at the times when we are sure we will want to take of our hiking boots and take a nap on the mountain side!
