In normal times a high proportion of the funds we need for our ongoing airframe restoration and maintenance works, come from donations and admission fees for our open cockpit visits at the museum.

The need to make our site and activities Covid-Secure has meant that we have stopped these open cockpit visits, which in turn has resulted in a significant five figure loss to the fund for our charity.

We aim to raise £10,000 before the end of 2020 and we need your help to achieve this challenging target. We are re-branding our on-site donation boxes to help support this fund raising campaign.

The following projects were underway when we closed the museum during lockdown and they have slowly been restarted since we were allowed to re-open:

Completion of the F-100 repaint

Markings application to the Heron

Meteor NF.14 & T.7 repaints to complete

Dove repaint to complete

Ashton top fuselage repaint to complete

Continuation of the in-depth work on the Puma and Chinook helicopters

Continuation of work on the Monospar

New port tyre for the Cessna 310

Repair work to the seat in the Shackleton nose position

Repair work on refurbishing / replacing a floor section in the Hastings & sealing several leaks that have worsened during lockdown

Given sufficient funds fresh repainting projects that may start include the T-33, MiG-27, Canberra T.19 and Hunter T.7

Ideally we would like to resume work on the Vulcan underside; with the completion of any repairs; plus, the continuation of the underside painting. If this work continues well, we can start on the rear ECM pod and the base of the tail fin.
