Story

Pace is a charity dedicated to empowering children and young people with cerebral palsy to reach their full potential.

Cerebral palsy is an injury to the brain that can happen before, during or after birth from an infection, premature delivery, trauma or lack of oxygen. CP does not discriminate and can affect children in many different ways from an isolated impairment in one hand to not being able to stand, sit, talk or eat.

Cerebral Palsy changes childrens lives and the lives of the parents and family surrounding those children. A diagnosis of cerebral palsy can be a devastating blow to parents, who are often told all of the things their child will never do.

At Pace our specialist therapists, expert teachers and dedicated support staff focus on all the things that a child can do. Our unique approach built from 30 years of experience means children develop some of the skills they were told they would never have.

Because of the generosity of people like you, our children have the right support and input and are given access to specialist equipment so that they can achieve amazing things.

Children who cannot sit, learn to sit up and lift their heads and engage with the world around them.

Children who were told they would never walk can learn to walk.

Children who cannot talk, learn to speak for themselves.

Pace children are an inspiration. They strive hard every day to achieve more, pushing themselves for every word, every movement, every step. And they do it knowing that they are striving to be the best that they can be. These wonderful children have inspired eight ageing walkers to take on a route that is one of the most challenging long distance routes in the UK.

The money raised will be enough for Pace to run a specialist stay and play group, enabling children with disabilities to access a fun and social environment with families who face the same challenges. It could help to pay for a baby to access a year of intensive early intervention with a specialist team of therapists at a time that can have the biggest impact on their future potential. It can help to provide the equipment and training to give a child a voice.

Your support will change lives - please give generously!
