Story
Paces is a specialist centre, school and charity all rolled into one! We support children and adults living with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, MS, Parkinsons and brain injury from all around our region.
At Paces, we believe that everyone has the right to achieve their true potential; we believe in ability, not disability! At Paces, through a method of support called Conductive Education we teach our children life-changing skills such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, communication and self-care all in an environment they can have fun, develop friendships, and feel like they belong.
Your donation will be supporting our New Home for Paces Campaign, thank you!
Previously, our Adults Services were based at Paces Campus in High Green, but thanks to our amazing supporters, we were able to move to Smithy Wood earlier this year. This has allowed us to care for even more adults and continue to grow the charity support.
Currently, our school is still based at High Green, North Sheffield, but our fundraising journey continues to enable us to move our children into a new and improved facility which will allow us to support three times as many families as we currently do.
The Schools new home will be at Thorncliffe Hall, less than one mile from the current site, and less than two miles from Smithy Wood which will be the new home for Paces Living, the charity's adult services provision, and the charity's operations team. www.pacessheffield.org.uk/thorncliffe
Thorncliffe Hall is based within the Thorncliffe Business Park and dates back to the 1790s and the dawn of the industrial revolution. The 18,000 square foot building will undergo a complete refurbishment and will include:
classroom spaces that have their own adapted bathrooms
a sensory room
a playground and sensory garden
office spaces, staffroom spaces and meeting rooms
The project will cost more than £1 million and it is hoped that the School can move into Thorncliffe as soon as possible once work is completed.
